2024-25 was a stellar year at the Halifax Convention Centre. This year, we hosted 166 events, welcomed 89,000 guests and generated an economic impact of $80M. With a strategic national and international event attraction strategy, we warmly welcomed 49 national and international conferences with visitors from around the world. More than ever, we embraced our local community with our Local Program and supported 87 local events, galas, and fundraisers.
We were also proud to reach significant business and financial milestones. Since opening in 2018-19, the Halifax Convention Centre has hosted nearly 1,000 events, welcomed half a million guests, and generated $325M in economic impact for Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the region. Combined with Scotiabank Centre in that timeframe, Events East has hosted over 1,500 events, welcomed more than 3.2M guests, and generated more than $550M in economic impact.

One of our annual highlights, the Halifax Convention Centre transformed into the region’s largest comic and sci-fi fantasy convention for Hal-Con 2024 in November with over 10,000 excited guests (including dozens of Spidermen and a few Storm Troopers), celebrity appearances including Chad Michael Murray, intricate costume designers, video gamers, vendors, a retro arcade, panels and presentations, and more. Hal-Con is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that prioritizes accessibility, inclusion, and safe spaces for all. We are always delighted to host Hal-Con. This year, Hal-Con moderator and Canadian media personality Tanner Zipchen gave us a tour.
